Vision The vision of this society is the integral vision laid by Sri Aurobindo to the society and the world at large. At the time when the Aurobindo Ashram has been created Sri Aurobindo said, “This Ashram has been created with another object than that ordinarily common to such institutions, not for renunciation of the world but as a centre and a field of practice for the evolution of another kind and form of life which would in the final end be moved by a higher spiritual consciousness and embody a greater life of spirit.” A branch of Sri Aurobindo Society at Dehri-On-Sone came into existence by the grace of Divine Mother. With the guiding force of the Mother this branch tries to attain the goal laid by Sri Aurobindo through practising Sri Aurobindo's yoga. The basic aim of Sri Aurobindo Society is to work towards individual perfection, social transformation and human unity based on spiritual foundation. In ashrams where liberation from worldly existence (moksha) is the sole object, there is a tendency for members to withdraw from outward life - to become sannyasis or ascetics. But in accordance with the comprehensive goal of Sri Aurobindo's teaching, members of his Ashram "are not sannyasis; it is not moksha that is the sole aim of the yoga here". Liberation is of course necessary; but it is an inner freedom and equanimity and not an outward renunciation that is required.
